Jesus teaches on forgiveness
“Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a certain king, who took account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25) But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his Lord commanded him to be sold and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26) The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all'. 27 Then the Lord of the servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28) But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him a hundred pence. He laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me that thou owest’. And his servant fell down at his feet, and besought him saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all’.
30) And he would not listen, but went and cast him into prison till he would pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry. They came and told unto their Lord all that was done.
32) Then the Lord, after he had called him said unto him, ‘O thou wicked servant. I forgave thee all that debt, because thou pleaded with me. Should you not also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee?
34) And his Lord was angry and delivered him to the tormentors, till he pay all that was due unto him.
35) So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if you from your hearts forgive not everyone their trespasses.” (Matthew 18: 23 – 35)
God Forgives All Our Mistakes
In the long reading above, we see that the master forgave that servant. Jesus used this story to tell us that the moment we ask forgiveness with a broken spirit, He forgives us ALL our iniquities, and sets us free. Let this be established.
God clears all your records of wrongs when you go to Him for forgiveness. No matter the degree of abomination you committed. He blots them out.
God Expects You to Forgive Too π€·
If you pray to God with bitterness and grudges in your heart against someone, then rest assured, you appear like a hypocrite before God. You want mercy, yet you refuse others mercy and forgiveness.
This story teaches us a great lesson. The servant owed his master ten thousand talents (like $10,000). The master forgave him and cleared his account. He (the servant) dragged and imprisoned a colleague who owed him far less the amount he was pardoned (like $1,000).
Forgive Today
The last verse is clear enough. God judges those who refuses to replicate same gesture of forgiveness they receive to others. When you forgive, you free yourself from guilt. Forgive today.
God bless you.
