"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love that love the Lord, to them who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Sometime in March 2018, the Holy Spirit gave me an insight into the meaning of this scripture. I've read this scripture before, but that insight offered phrase-after-phrase interpretation. Here are the parts:
[and we know...]
Every of God's intention and idea concerning our lives need to be searched for, known and understood by us, so that we are not ignorant of what God has made available for us.
This is because sometimes, if you don't know, you don't benefit.
[...that all things...]
All things here means everything! Every activity in your neighborhood, in your personal life, your environs, etc.
Take note: not just the ones which you think are good. No! All things: the good and bad. The wicked uncle, the kind treatment from your step mother, the indifferent disposition of your boss. Your fears, your strength.. All things!
[...work together...]
Both the good, the bad, the ugly, the predictable, the unpredictable, the smooth and the rough. They all work together. That is, in ways which you may not know, programmed by God or allowed by God to operate for what?
[...for good...]
Friends, the sad days, the moody days, the joyous days, all work together for good! The disappointments and targets met, all work for good. To who?
[...to them that love God...]
This only functions for those whose love is on Jesus. When you demonstrate your love to Jesus and walk in His love, he turns your imperfections and fears to blessings. One more thing.
[...to them who are called according to His purpose...]
This is additional to the first criterion mentioned.
Who are the called? Those who have accepted the invitation of Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
"God is faithful, by whom we are called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord." 1Corinthians1:9
In summary, just know that everything works together not for evil, but for good, in your favour. Only in Christ can a thing like this be achieved.
It may hurt, but you gotta know and keep confessing that it works for your good. It may not feel good or sensible anyways, but that is God's word. And God's word is the most authentic.
Thank you for your attention.
