In this series, we focus on digging out details in the purpose of our birth and existences. We discovered in the first article of this series that we were all created for a purpose.
We used our Master Jesus as the first example. Today, we shall consider another example: Samson the Great.
“For, lo, thou shall conceive and bear a son and no razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall ‘begin’ to deliver Israel out of the hand of the philistines”. (Judges 13: 5)
Destiny is Decided Before Birth
Psalms 100: 3 declares that we were all created by God. Generally, no manufacturer defines the functions of a product after it has been produced.
Put it differently, purpose generates need for a product. The ball point pen was created because there is need for people to write.
Similarly, or more seriously, you and I were created for a purpose, and our destinies were long determined before birth. The text above are the words of an angel, informing the parents of Samson, Manoah and his wife, (as also seen in the verses of the same chapter).
We Manifest Purpose, Not Our Will
Before I saw this scripture, I used to think the great Samson was naturally powerful, as an addition to his numerous skills. No! Before his birth (like everyone who walks the face of the earth), his purpose was determined. Notice a word highlighted ‘begin’.
After he left, Israel was in some sort of bondage in the hands of the Philistines. But he (Samson) started the process, (of which he would have done more if he lived longer).
You do not love to sing (for instance) because you don’t just like singing. No! that is simply an indication of an already defined purpose.
In the later chapters of this Book of Judges, we find the demonstration of the purpose Samson was born. Over *7000 Philistines were killed by Samson (as part of God’s plans to liberate Israelites from their grip).
The Power of God Helps Us Manifest Our Destinies
In the numerous instances we see the demonstration of the unusual power of Samson, beginning from verse 6 of chapter 14 (of Judges), something happens that makes Samson who we know him for –the power of God comes mightily upon him.
The first manifestation was with a young lion (judges 14: 6) which rose from the woods. The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon Samson, and he tore it in parts. You know the story.
Also, he got into trouble with the Philistines again in chapter 15. They came after him, and at the point of attack, the Spirit of the Lord came mightily on him, and he slew them. Imagine one man, versus hundreds and thousands of men with weapons.
He used a jaw bone of an ass! That is beyond skills. It is the power of God! If you are operating in the area God called you to function, (your purpose), you won’t operate by your strength, but the Lord will always back you up, or even take over.
I pray that you discover what you were created for and may God release His power to back you up on your pursuit of destiny.
I urge you to look out for the next episodes of this series, as we consider another character.
