Purpose is crucial in our sojourn on the earth. Purpose discovery and fulfillment is our focus in this study.
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore, also I have lent him to the Lord, as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. (1Samuel 1:27,28)
And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground. And the word of Samuel came to all Israel.” [1 Samuel 3:19, 4:1]
Early Positioning For Destiny
The text above is an extract of Hannah's testimony, the growth and mission of Samuel. After a long period of barrenness, Samuel came by divine conception.
In fulfilment to the promise Hannah made to the Lord, She brought little Samuel to the temple to serve God in the supervision of Eli, the priest. Put it thus, Samuel became one of Eli’s servants who helped out with the sacred activities of the temple.
From childhood, little Samuel was positioned already in the vicinity of his purpose. It is not too late to position yourself for your purpose.
The Role of Mentorship in Fulfilling Purpose
A wise man said if you stand on the shoulders of those who have gone ahead of you, you see farer. Part of positioning yourself for the purpose of God in you to manifest is attaching yourself to a mentor, someone who has been where you desire to be, or is currently there.
Little Samuel did not decide this, but the wisdom and obedience of the mother offered him the privilege of learning the rudiments of his purpose under his master Eli.
One day, while little Samuel was asleep, the Lord called his name. Little Samuel got up and ran to his master Eli. The master said, ‘I didn’t call you. Go back to bed’. This happened again, and the third time, Eli perceived that the Lord called the child. So Eli gave Samuel guide: “If he call thee, say ‘speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth.’ ”
Again, the Lord called after a while. Little Samuel did as he was mentored. Then the Lord unveiled his plans first to the child. Afterwards, anytime the Lord came calling, Samuel was no longer confused.
Stay with your purpose
Bishop David Oyedepo said that very celebrity in the race of life got to know where they belong on time, and they stock there!
I have realised by observation and learning that stars and high flyers rose early in their fields. That means, they have been patient in the days of beginning, still producing, working and still playing. They win small, they win big, they fall, but kept going.
They stay and keep winning. They fail, yet they keep playing. Little Samuel got on track early, and he stayed there. He became one of the greatest prophets Israel ever had.
Challenged at many times, yet, he stayed with his purpose. Stay with your purpose.
It is more than the incentives you may receive, or the people that are blessed by it, but it service to God, and God rewards.
Stay on your purpose.
Live your purpose!
