Demonstrating our Authority in Christ
a. “Even when we are dead in sin, [He] had quickened us together with Christ, (by grace we are saved), and had raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
a. “But now in Christ Jesus, you who sometimes were afar off are made near by the blood of Christ.” [Ephesians 1: 5 - 6; 2: 13]
In Your New Home
Before we knew God, we were in our old home ‘dead in sin’. But now that we have Jesus, our residents and nationalities have been changed (spiritually). By the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we have been adopted from the kingdom and dominion of darkness into the kingdom of God.
There (in sin), we did not have liberty, here we have liberty. There, we were slaves, here, we are princes and rulers!
When a child is adopted (from the orphanage for instance), and brought into a loving home, the child is no longer treated as an orphan. She is loved and genuinely respected.

The timid feeling of being an orphan could linger, but soon disappears as he/she knows he now has parents. Then, he could say, “Dad, I want ice cream."
You Have Rights in Christ Jesus
Our texts above reveal that we are no longer of this world, but of Christ, and not just in Christ, we are seated with him, in heavenly places. The knowledge of this right empowers you to go for it. All things are freely given, but you will have to reach out for it, else, right in the waters, you would thirst.
Sometimes, reaching out requires spiritual violence demonstrated in fervent prayers: claiming your rights and clearly announcing to antagonizing forces that you are set to receive all that is yours in Christ!
On God's Side
The ‘B’ part of our text explains that we are now brought near by the blood of Jesus. There is no assurances as concrete and reliable as this –that Jesus is committed to our wellbeing. Henceforth, discard the thoughts of defeat, timidity and fear.
We have not received the spirit of such, but of power, courage and vigour. It is time to begin to declare what you want to see happen. It has not yet happened, but by faith in the potency of God’s Word —speak it forth!
Ephesians 2:7 says ...in the ages to come, He might show exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us, through Jesus Christ.”
God is ever willing. He delights in your welfare. You play your part, exercise your faith and watch His faithfulness.
God bless you.
Have a spirit-filled day. Hope this has been a blessing.
