PARABLE OF THE SOWER

An overview

“And he taught them many things by parables and said unto them in His doctrine, ‘Hearken, behold, there went out a sower to sow. And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

"Some fell on the stony ground, where it had not much earth, and immediately it sprang up, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns and the thorns grew, and choked it, and it yield no fruit.

"And others fells on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased, and brought forth some thirty, and some sixty, and some a hundred”. [Mark 4: 2 – 8]

The Seed is The Word of God 🌷

The seed in the above text represents the word of God. After giving this parables, the disciples and others came to him when he was alone and asked him for the interpretation of the parable. Jesus explained, saying, first, that the seed represents the word of God. (Luke 8: 11)

The Way Side 🛤️

While reading this scripture, the Holy Ghost gave an insight. The way side, as Jesus explained refers to those who soon after they receive the word of God on any subject, they immediately lose it. It disappeared. Something snatches it –the devil. The understanding I had was that the devil uses the instrumentality of unbelief. (See Hebrews 4: 2)

Pray for the empowerment of faith in the word of God. Else, if you yield to doubt, the devil will take the Word away from you.

The Stony Ground 🪨

This is another case. The stony ground represents those who as soon as they hear the message, they receive it gladly. But it does not sink in deep into them, and they don’t last long.

Jesus said ‘So when troubles or persecution comes because of the message, they give up at once’. He added, 'Pray that God should enlarge your capacity to receive the word and sink them in.

The Thorns 🪵

Thorns are sturdy shoots from the ground, which could cause you to slip if you mistakenly hit. When one receives the word of God and begins to observe or walk in it, challenges in environment, family, peers arises. Pressures.

These thorns also mean 'riches' and 'lust'. Everything that oppose God’s word in your life is this thorn, and its target is to ‘choke’ you. So, watch and pray. Give the word high preference. Respect the word of God more than your fleshy desires. It pays.

The Good Ground 🌱🪴🌾🌾

The good ground is someone who against the odds, the word grows and bears fruit in his life. Bishop David Oyedepo said 'Every word of God is a seed; when spoken, they are planted. '

I humbly add that when received, they sink in, when valued and respected, they germinate.

The more they are honoured and acted upon, the more they grow and prosper. The word is invisible, but they bear both visible and invisible fruits.

Receive and Grow the Word 📖

Where God’s word is, there is power, (Eccl. 8: 4). When you receive and grow more of God’s word, you access and exercise the power of God. This manifest in productivity and blessings. But when you reject or disregard the word, then you miss the profit.

I AM HE

Revealing the person of Jesus “ The woman said unto Him, ‘I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ. When He comes, he will teach us all things’. Jesus said unto her, ‘I that talk to thee, I am he’. ” (John 4:25 – 26) Are You Expecting a Saviour? Injured Conscience

In 2019, I wrote on Paul's counsel to the Roman churches concerning their dealings with one another, especially the new converts. The early church was blessed with multitude of converts. Their spirits had been saved, but their minds had to gradually undergo RENEWAL, and that would be achieved through teachings and love. Teaching, because as these converts fellowship with the believers, they learn the ways of God, and the doctrines of their new faith. It would take a gradual process for them to DECONSTRUCT the old doctrines in their hearts and ADAPT to the new things they were learning. Since they were religious and conscientious people, intolerance was easily found in their dealings with the converts. Paul advised, 'Him that is weak in faith, receive ye, but not to doubtful disputation.'
