CROSSROAD SERIES (2)
[Listening for divine direction]
Flashback
In our last edition, we wrote on the role of the Holy Spirit: giving us direction on what to do and where next to enter in our quest for success. We drew inferences from Isaiah 30:21 and John 16:13 and explained from there that we have a duty to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying per time.
In this edition, we want to introduce another mode of receiving direction from God, when we get to the crossroads —the Word of God. Meanwhile, we should note that God speaks in different ways.
The Word of God
There is no doubt that the Holy Spirit demonstrates the activities and movement of God on Earth. There are modules which He reaches to us with the information God has for us. Before I share an insight I received, let's first look at Psalm 19.11:
"Moreover, by them (God's Word) is thy servant warned, and in keeping of them is great reward".
The Word of God is another way through which God guides us.
Logos Before Rhema
In November, 2019, the Holy Spirit told me that sometimes He would not reveal certain things until I found them in the word. I was surprised, but I did not doubt. So, evermore, I digest more of God's word for His revelation and direction.
You see, God does nothing outside His word, and without revealing to his Prophets. Often times, we do not hear, we do not see. The Bible is a mysterious book handed down from generations to generations. It contains authentic information that are relevant across the ages it has come through.
By divine arrangement, the purpose, destiny and mission of every man is engraved somewhere on some pages of that book! Also in the details of our destinies, as enshrined in God's word, is God's direction on how and where and when.
Look Out!
The devil is a liar, and the prince of darkness. He delights in keeping people away from God's purpose for their lives. He does this by supplying you with attractive alternatives to God's Word. Thereby, darkening your sight and understanding of God's idea and direction.
So, as a Believer, you have the responsibility to look across, or look away from his options into the ideas of God. God's ideas are the best! More than just an idea, it is the right way! God's ways are superior!
His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His knowledge smarter than that of men. How do we look into God's ideas and ways and thought?
We do that by looking out for His Word. Study God's word. The scriptures (as seen in the text above) provides light on our path. His word also warns us against the deceptive, attractive ways of the devil.
Study the Word
Create time for God's Word daily. Read. Study. Meditate on them. And live it! Through this, your eyes will be open to God's direction. God bless you.
