PARABLE OF THE SEED
[The mystery of growth in the kingdom of God]
"And he said, 'So is the kingdom of God, as if a man cast seed into the ground. He sleeps and rise night and day, and how the seed springs and grow up, he knows not.
For the earth brings forth fruit of itself, first the blade (the tender stalk), then the ear (the head), after that, the full corn on the head. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he put in the sickle, because the harvest is due.'" (Mark 4:26-29)
In a Nutshell
Parable of the Seed is one of the over 27 parables Jesus shared in his numerous sermons. Like He did in Parable of the Mustard Seed, Jesus used the mystery of seed to explain the kingdom of God. In Parable of the Mustard and Sower, Jeus expounds on the supernatural life. (Look up these two parables on this blog).
In Parable of the Seed, Jesus further affirmed the mysterious process of growth a believer ought to experience. Verse 28 notes that the growth surprises those who planted them.
The Kingdom is a Seed
The kingdom of God is likened here to a seed that is planted in the ground. If you plant a seed in the ground, it does not change the ground on the spot (physically), but scientifically or naturally, the earth acknowledges a deposit. Similarly, when you receive Christ Jesus, and receives the word of God, it does not change your look or physical body on the spot, but your spirit and soul will acknowledge a deposit. The seed has its content, description and mission. The seed is powerful.
The Seed is Fully Equiped
Every seed, be it mango, orange, maize, almond, whether big or small, they have content, (the identity), description, and mission (what action to take in the earth). The seed after some days familiarize itself with the earth, and shortly breaks forth. The kingdom of God has these qualities.
That is why we are in Christ. The same Word that produced Christ is same that produced us. The word of God is fully equipped. It is a seed. It has content, description and power!
Allow the seed to Grow
If you trample on the tender seed trying to shoot forth in the earth, with all its power, it will die. Consequently, the seed will die meaning you may lose your fruit. Similarly, if you ignore or choke the deposit of God's word in your life with sinful living, you hinder your growth and fruit.
Allow the seed to grow. Allow the word of God in your life to grow. Yes, the word grows. When it grows, your life grows as well. It does not mean your hands grow bigger. No. It means your good virtues receive empowerment to florish: your love, patience, peace, humility and kindness faith grows.
The Fruits are: Good Life, Peace, Wealth, Progress
When the kingdom of God or the word grows in your life, it does not increase your love, peace, and other fruits of the spirit, but in material manifestation, the word produces wealth, longevity and success. Vesre 29 says the owner of the garden brings sickle and harvest it. This means you start to reap the benefits of God's word.
Allow the word to grow, nurture it a and you won't regret. God bless you.
