[Examining God's assignment to Noah]
Flashback
Our focus in this teaching series is highlighting the truism that we have a purpose to fulfil; an assignment from God to carry out on Earth, in people's lives, our families, nation and any place God sends us.
We have considered several characters from Scriptures, using their lives and assignment to derive insights in the dimensions of purpose allocated and execution. I encourage you to look up previous editions of this series.
Noah and the Ark
And the Lord said, 'I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the Earth, both man and beast and the creeping things, and the fowls of the air...
Noah and the Ark
And the Lord said, 'I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the Earth, both man and beast and the creeping things, and the fowls of the air...
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. And God said to Noah... 'Make thee an ark of Gopher wood: rooms shall thou make in the ark and shall pitch it within and without..." (Genesis 6:7,8,13,14)
Noah Preserved the Vision
Noah Preserved the Vision
One interesting issue about purpose I understood in this story, by the help of the Holy Spirit is Noah's preservation of the revelation through many years. Historians suggest, using statistics from relevant archives –that Noah built the ark across a period of about 100 years.
He may have faced serious opposition in the construction, yet he still kept his faith fresh on what God instructed him. He preserved the vision. Preserve your vision.
Keep the Vision, Fulfil It
I encourage you today: whatever God has told you, keep it. Don't let the devil steal it from you. Don't let time and delay absorb it away. It might take a long time to see the manifestation. But do not quit.
Stand on the watch tower like Habakkuk. Keep looking, keep working and continue believing. Verse 12 of chapter 7 says 'And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights'. It took long but it happened. Believe God. Keep the vision. Seek the help of the Holy Spirit.
God's Target
The Bible says in verse 8 that Noah found grace in the sight of the Lord. God's 'grace' on Noah extended on his family. Put differently, the salvation of Noah's family and the whole earth (then) depended on Noah's obedience. We are now in God's family, and God is still calling people to build arks through which He would preserve His people.
The ark could be a business, a school, a church, a career, a social or political project, etc. Whatever ark God is leading you to build, His target is to deliver His people.
There are people whose lives and liberation is practically dependent on your purpose. So, whenever you feel discouraged in going after your purpose, remember God's target –souls.
There are people in your family, neighborhood or anywhere who He wants your purpose to affect positively. So concentrate. Build your ark. Build by God's instruction. Keep the faith until completion.
