[Preserving Your Salvation]
The Light
One of the distinguishing characteristics of a Believer in the spiritual realm is Light. All over the scriptures, God is regarded among other metaphors, as light. Psalms 104:2 describes God as been covered with light as a garment. 1John1:6 says 'God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all'.
Jesus said, 'I am the Light of the world. He that follows after me shall not dwell in darkness, but shall have the light of life.' John 8:12
Jesus: The True Light
Light is a crucial element or subject in the School of the Spirit. Bishop David Oyedepo affirms that 'Light is our second most important asset in the Kingdom after salvation'.
I agree with this. Jesus' purpose for coming to the world was to bring light. He said in John 3:19 'And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men love darkness rater than light...' In the book of John 1:9, John the Baptist testifies that 'He was the true light that lit every man that came into this world'.
The good news is that we are joint heirs together with Christ. As He is, so are we in this world. Therefore, we too are the light of the world!
We Are The Light!
Hallelujah! It is interesting to know that we are the light. The experience of carrying the light of God is rewarding and sweet! Jesus said in Matthew 5:14 says 'You are the Light is the world'.
Light provides or aids sight, clarity and direction. Evil thrives in darkness, that is why Jesus said in John 3:19 that the world hates light because it reveals. That reminds me, light reveals too!
You Are The light!
Here is the background: we were once in the darkness, sin and death; due for judgement and doom.
But God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
In Him, was life, and the life became the light of men, and the light shone in darkness and darkness cannot persist. (John 3:16; 1:4,5)
Shine Out!
The fifth verse of the John chapter one says, 'And the light shined in darkness, and darkness cannot withstand it'. Yes, that is the Believer's duty, –shine!
One of my superiors at work said 'Brighten the corner where you are'. That's powerful. Let your light so shine before men that they might see your good works and glorify your Father, who is in Heaven.
That tells us that one of the demonstration of your light is your good works. Keep doing good, even in your secret. God sees. So, keep shining. Light up your family, light up your home, your office, your neighborhood, your world!
The Enemy of Light
This is the part that inspired the writing of this article. The fact that light always has a rival. Jesus implied in John 3:19 that light is not always appreciated or welcomed.
However, light has to stay.
The enemy of light is darkness itself, and personified in the devil. The prince of darkness is the enemy of light.
Let me mention here that when you glow, you fulfil destiny in a grand style, but the devil doesn't want that. He wants to darken your light.
So, you have the responsibility to defend your light.
This, we shall carefully study in the second edition of this interesting teaching –how to defend your light.
Stay tuned. God bless you. Shine on!
