[A peep into the high standards of the Holy Spirit]
In Exodus 20:19, when God descended to give The 10 Commandments, the people told Moses, 'Speak thou with us, and we will hear, but let God not speak with us, lest we die.' Chapter 19:18 records that when God descended on the Sinai where the people gathered, the rocks were split, the mountains quaked and were covered with smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire.
The people could not stand the presence of God. They trembled and besought Moses to become their medium. Today, there are still people who play Moses in the Kingdom, but the primary medium now is the Holy Spirit. He translate the Heavenly language and signal to our understanding. He helps us communicate with the Father. So, we don't compulsorily have to go through a Pastor. The veil was torn. We can come boldly to the Throne of Grace, but, in the Spirit. (John 4:24)
The New Medium
The Holy Spirit is the new medium to communicate with the Father. The Spirit is the representative of Jesus in you. Jesus said in John 16:7, if I go, I will send Him to you.
Now, the Spirit steps down the presence of God for our human consumption. No man can survive the fullness of God in His raw nature, just like your TV would blow up if you plug it directly to the high tension current.
Contained in the high voltage of God's presence is His holiness. God does not behold iniquity. He is pure. That is why the Holy Spirit is such an expensive personality to keep.
God is Holy
If the Holy Spirit represent God the Father and the Son inside you, then His hands cannot be bent to compromise with man. In the law, man needed sacrifice of animals to come before God's presence. This was done once in a year.
So, the people stayed long with their sins until the yearly attornment. But now, God dwells permanently in us by His Spirit. This was made possible by the death of Jesus. He is our access to God. This time, not once in a year, but always.
A Holy God in a Filthy Man
Here is the challenge: a holy God functioning in a filthy human. When you lifted your hands and said, 'Father, fill me with your presence', that's when another battle began in your life –the battle between sin and holiness.
Anyone who has received the Holy Ghost no longer has absolute control over his/her life, because the Holy Spirit would seek to influence and regulate your life.
The challenge is that He is holy, but man is full of filth and always tempted with sin.
This becomes a problem for the peace of that soul, because the Holy Spirit would not let you rest with sin in your vessel. When you drop water in a burning oil, or in a hot frying pan, what do you get? That is the same reaction in the spirit of a man with the presence of God in him/her.
However, this happens to those who have yielded to the Holy Ghost. Your yieldedness brings you into another level of Koinonia with the Spirit of God. This is a lesson I have drawn from personal experiences with the Holy Spirit. It is expensive to keep Him. It requires you to die!
