[The way side]
"And He taught them many things by parables and said unto them in His doctrine, 'Hearken, behold there went out a sower to sow. So it came to pass as he sowed, some fell by the wayside and the fowl of the air came and devoured it up." Mark 4:2-4
The Seed is the Word of God
The seed here represents the Word of God. The sower is the Lord Himself and the Holy Ghost. The Word here is the culture of the kingdom and the life of Christ which is given to believers with the intention of raising kingdom ambassadors on the earth.
But guess what? The devil does not want that to happen. He rather prefers that all be his, operate by his influence and destroy the world and the heritage of the Lord completely. He is out to kill, steal and destroy.
The Enemy of the Seed
When the enemy attacks the seed, it is because he is afraid of the fruit thereof. He steals the seed because he does not want the fruit to manifest. He is afraid of the germination and manifestation of the seed. He knows that if the seed is allowed to grow, he and his agenda will be defeated. So, his full-time job is to destroy. He has dedicated all the time to look out for where the Word is sown and then attack it.
In verse 15, when Jesus explained this parable to His disciples, He said that satan immediately comes to take the Word that is sown in the heart of people. He does not waste time attacking the sown seed.
Do not think that your knowledge of kingdom values and the Word is a pleasant thing for the devil. No. In fact, he wants to stop the experience. He wants to steal the Word from you. He wants to steal the revelation of Christ from your heart so he can plunder at will.
What are you to do?
Secure the Word
David said in Psalm 119:11 'Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee.' Until you recognize the value of God's Word, you will continue to trivialize and disregard it. And guess what? The devil wants you to do that. He is glad when you tow that path of not valuing the Word of God.
He wants to even distract you the more. Valueless things are not stolen. Thieves go after valuable things. Even kidnappers target people with high financial worth. The devil, being a skillful thief, knows the value of God’s Word, and he is out to steal it from you.
If the devil waits on the Word to be sown so he would steal, then the Word is valuable. You either protect and secure it, else the opposite will certainly happen. The enemy will come after it. He is always lurking around.
How will that happen? Suddenly, you forget the Word, or it makes no sense any longer. The revelation evaporates. Suddenly, you lose understanding. The thief has picked like a bird picks a chick!
Below are some ways to secure and preserve the Word.
Believe the Word
A sure way of losing the revelation, and power of God's Word is unbelief. Luke 1:45 says 'Blessed is she who believeth, for there shall be a performance.'
Faith is what makes the soil of your heart soft enough to receive the seed of God's Word. Hebrews 4:2 says that the Word was given to a particular group of people, but it did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that received it.
Believing the Word of God brings about establishment. The Word is established in you and you in the Word thus giving the devil a tough time to quickly and easily hijack it.
The Holy Spirit
I will be insincere if I explain this without recommending the Holy Spirit. He is the One who imparts the Spirit of faith in your heart. The mystery of God's Word is a product from the deep place where God is. That place is the Spirit.
You cannot receive the Word, let alone believe and keep it by your human mind. You need the support of the Spirit of God. This leads us to the need for prayers.
If what you need is a spiritual thing in Christ, then you have to pray. Preserving the Word in order to reap the fruits and benefits requires that you pray. You have to pray for the Holy Spirit to impart faith in your heart. This will help you preserve the Word the more.
Guard jealously the Word of God you have received. Give no place to the devil. He is always lurking around to steal it from you and render you useless. The Word of God is your advantage.
God bless you.
