WALKING IN THE SPIRIT (3)
[Welcome to continuous dying self]
In the previous editions, I shared some issues about being in alignment with the will of God, and the role of the Holy Spirit in bringing us into compliance with God's word.
Today, we shall consider what to do, to attract the help of the Holy Ghost when you have difficulties in doing God's will.
Invitation
I earlier said that the Holy Spirit does not possess people, He comes on invitation or a direct order from the Father. Therefore, you have to acknowledge that you need help, and then invite Him to help.
Remember, it's not like He comes from the skies. He already dwells in you. But He will not act without your permission.
Your invitation gives him the permission to be a part of the issues you need his attention for. (See previous editions for more on this.)
Dump Your Logic, Embrace the Word
We are very calculative, so we are so concerned about getting our formulas and calculation accurate. We want to see how, and how before we move. We want to know the details of the why and when, and where, before we believe or even try. It is normal. But as you grow in your walk with God, you will discover that although we have the right to know, God is superior to our rights. He is still just even in his delay to give us that information. He wants us to follow even when we don't have the details.
He wants you to believe that although this is water, if you step on it at His command, it will hold up your feet. This is the faith he honours. If you still hold onto what you know and how you feel, and who are, then it will take longer to change.
Accept the Word
The Holy Spirit will insist that you first accept the word of God. That ancient, but ever new word is what will make you free. The Bible says in Proverb 11:9 that 'through knowledge shall the just one be delivered.'
You might have the knowledge of God's will for you, but if you don't believe and accept it, you won't see the benefit of God's word. Hebrew 4:8 says that the same word that has liberated others may not liberate you if you do not receive and believe it.
Submission is Honour to God
Recently, the Holy Spirit told me that complying with God's word is honour to God. Our God is a God of honour. He loves and rewards honour. When we submit, then we are walking in the Spirit.
Why it might be difficult to submit sometimes is because the suggestion or instruction of the Spirit does not make sense to your logic.
Other people may think of it as being strange or just your imagination. This is why you need the Holy Spirit of God to help you discern, and bring you into alignment.
The Bible says that the word of God is quick and powerful; sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing asunder to the dividing of the soul and the Spirit. It is the discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart.
This is entirely a spiritual activity that can only thrive as you continually lay your life down, and demand that the Holy Spirit should break you.
Graduate from living in the Spirit into waking in the Spirit. Welcome to continuous dying to self.
