"They profess that they know God but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient and unto every good work, reprobate." Titus 1:16
"The former treatise have I made O Theophilus of all that Jesus began to do and teach." Acts1:1
It is amazing how the Holy One would not let me hide away from this kind of topics which challenge me.
You can simply say 'I love the Lord,' but your actions say a different thing.
Jesus said, if you love me, the way you can communicate that is 'keep my commandments'.
The confession is good. It can help the faith of another believer, but after the oratory, do the keeping.
A contrary action to your confession is interpreted as denial (according to Titus 1:16).
Kind Words, Rebellious Acts
The first text says that disobedience to the word of God and involvement in all sorts of violations and abominations on the reverse disqualifies our kind words.
This means that while God listens to our words, He also watches our actions.
The testimony of Acts1:1 confirms that Jesus was not just a public speaker from town to town, He was also an actor! An actor of His words!
We saw Him teach his disciples to pray, and we also saw him many times practise prayer. At one time, he continued all night in prayers.
Good Models
Jesus offered us a practical example of an honourable life. He lived the things He preached. He did not only preach.
His disciples tried to emulate Him. They held onto the Gospel in pains and tears.
Secret Place
There is a mystery in standing with the Lord. It is the mystery of the secret place. That is where you lay flat at His feet; just you and Him.
This is where He will impart you with the grace to keep standing.
After speaking, the tempter will come to try your convictions on the things you teach or profess. Endeavour to stand.
If you keep failing the test, keep appearing in the secret place. The word of God is designed to prevail.
There is no assurance of accuracy and righteousness in the flesh or your might.
The strength of God is made perfect in your weakness, but you have to express your need for it. This is best done in prayers, on your knees, in brokenness.
Jesus spent long hours in prayers to download as much power He needed to be a perfect example of the things he preached.
Although he was God, He had to constantly conquer the flesh (in prayers) in order to fulfill his purpose on earth.
May God help us to be believers in deed. Amen.
