For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that you should abstain from fornication. That everyone of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour. 1Thessalonians 4:4
"For God had not called us unto uncleanness but unto holiness.
"What? Know ye not that he that is joined to a harlot is one body? For two, said he, shall become one flesh. Flee fornication.
"Every sin that a man does is without the body, but he that committed fornication sinneth against his own body.
"What? Know ye not that your body is temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For you are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your Spirit, which are God's." 1Corin 6.16-20
This is one unavoidable, uncompromising standard of the Kingdom, which has survived through generations down to ours —the principle of purity.
God said 'Be ye holy as I am holy.' Lev 19.20
The current challenges nonetheless, the standard remain —be holy.
Against the Pressure!
It is truly hard to fight the pressure of immorality with one's might and will. In order to flee as the Lord commands, we need the empowerment of the Spirit.
It is not a commandment you can keep by your strong will, you need the help of the Spirit.
It is like moving against the tide.
At All Cost!
The demand for purity is a constant in all circumstances. The word flee means withdraw from all the triggers that set you on course, on the part of compromise.
It is more challenging now than ever, but our God is called 'the God of all grace.' 1 Peter 5:10 He can supply grace to align.
If we desire to please Him, then we have to honour him by being separated and sanctified.
It is a call to walk through a narrow path. Getting involved is easy. Abstaining is also easy by the help of the Holy Spirit.
This narrow path will cost you. It will cost you fleshly pleasure and gratification.
As you yield to the Holy Ghost, He'll direct your heart on how to keep your light and fire. Holiness is not a suggestion, but a commandment.
I love this submission by Apostle Arome Osai:
A consecrated Believer is secretly pure towards God, mercifully kind towards others, and righteously strict to himself.
