In the law, purification and cleansing was done with ceremonial practices like sacrifice of animals and the sprinkling of blood.
This was done once in a year and every year. Thanks be to Jesus who entered the holy of holies once and for all; He satisfied the claims of divine justice with His own blood.
Now, attonement and sanctification is no longer by the blood of bulls, but by His blood. (Hebrews 9:12)
Here's something interesting you also need to know. God's word cleanses! And Jesus is the Word made flesh.
Jesus is the Word
John 1:1 and 12 reveals that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. Jesus purifies. He took away our sins. It is in Him we are sanctified and made eligible to stand before the Father blameless, (not by works).
His purifying power is also invested in His word! Whenever and wherever the word is spoken, it dispenses purifying power in the hearts and lives of those who believe.
Cleansed by the Word
In John 15:3, Jesus declared, 'Now are ye clean through the Word that I have spoken unto you.' During His priestly prayer before He was arrested, He told the Father, "And for their sakes, I sanctify myself that they too might be sanctified through the truth." (John 17:19)
Paul speaking on accepting all meat said, 'For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayers." (1Timothy 4:5)
There is a question raised in Psalm 119:9, 'Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?' The answer came immediately, 'by taking heed there to according to thy word.'
Paul, speaking to the Ephesians church about the love of Christ for the church said, 'That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word.' Ephesians 5:26
I've Been Cleansed by the Word!
I believe this the more as I experience it. I've been cleansed several times by the word of God. Whenever I err, and I feel the weight of my transgression on me, the Holy Ghost, at the time of meditation or prayer would minister to me and convict me of my flaw, and counsel me of what to do, and warn me not to return to my error.
Usually, He uses scriptures I have read to perform this function.
Sometimes, it is during His counsel that I understand what a particular scripture means. Miraculously after the ministrations, I feel relieved and light again.
It is a mystery of the purifying power of the word!
Beautiful day to you!
