[The public impact of a leader's negligence and immaturity]
"Woe unto thee oh land when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning.
"Blessed art thou oh land when thy king is the son of the noble and thy princes eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness!" Ecclesiastes 10:16,17
Woe! 😏
Woe means 'cursed.' This is the word the Bible uses to describe a people led by a child. 'Child' here means incompetence, inexperience and immaturity.
Galatians 4:1 says 'An heir, as long as he's a child, divereth not from a servant, though he be lord of all.'
When a child is at the helm of affairs, saddled with the responsibility of taking decisions that are binding on others, the Lord gives a foreshadow —woe! The future (of not just the child, but) the people is woe!
Blessed!😀
The prediction is different on the other hand. When thy king is a son of the nobles and thy princes eat in due season.
Nobility here connotes discipline, self-control and training.
The impact of this background on the people and the land is —blessing.
This helps me see why Paul said we should make prayers for kings and for all that are in authority, that they may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." 1Timothy 2:1,2
Isn't it surprising how the peace of a people is tied to the functionality their leader.
This may contradict political science, but it is Kingdom perspective. And God's word is superior to philosophy.
The New Generation Leaders
A new generation of leaders are rising. Sadly, some will emerge without adequate preparation and may bring woe on the land.
Be among the nobles; those who eat for strength and not gluttons. The verdict for a people led by disciplined king is blessed.
This is a call on every young person to become intentional about personal development and preparation to take the lead in the area of their callings.
Be a leader who is a blessing to the people at any level.
Wake Up!
Love not sleep and wine. Don't be given to frivolous merriment. This will interrupt your reception of God's voice.
As a leader, when you no longer hear from God, then you will hear something else, eventually. Your end is therefore so predictable.
As a leader, seek growth.
Failure to grow, you will lead yourself and those who follow you into a state of woe!
Be a leader whose ears are constantly on the heart of God to hear His pulse and what He's saying. Be a leader led by the Lord, else your negligence will endanger others under your watch.
