[The futility of purpose without a compass]
Think of propose as a destination, and counsel as a map to get there.
Jesus had a purpose on earth. Jesus declared in Hebrews 10:7 'Behold I come in the volume of the book as it is written concerning me, to do thy will O God.'
One day in the synagogue, Jesus read from the scroll 'The spirit of the Lord is upon me for he has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, he had sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and the recovering of sights to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.' Luke 4:18,19
This was his mission on earth, to initiate the phase of the grace of God for all mankind. As huge as this mission was, it wasn't without a prescribed module, a path.
The Path of Life
There is a path recommended for your God-given destiny. Romans 8:28 declares 'All things work together for good to them that love God, who are called ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.'
The following verse reveals that we were predestined. With every product comes a manual or a guide introducing it and telling how to use it.
David cried out, "Thou will show me the path of life for in your presence, there is fullness of joy..." Psalms 16:10
Sometimes, you have to seek out the path to your purpose. It is not always obvious. It may be but you need grace to discern and work through it.
The Beautiful Alternative
The devil has a fake version of everything God created or instructed. If the Lord told you, 'This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, thou shall meditate on it day and night.'
The devil will also make a manipulative input to you, * 'It is written, he shall bear your feet so you don't dash against the stones' (like he told Jesus on the mountain.)
Beware of the devil's alternative.🚫
It may look smart or sound beautiful, but when you wander out of the path that leads to your destiny, you may never arrive. Put differently, you will arrive somewhere that looks like it.
Proverbs 21:16 affirms that the man that wanders out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Counsel Preserve Purpose
Where no counsel is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety.' Prov. 11:14
Without counsel, purpose is disappointed, but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established. Proverbs 15:22
Counsel here is the word of God. Counsellors here are the people and facilities (like Goodlife Foundation) established to speak, publish and re-echo God's counsel.
This includes your parents, mentors, pastors, counsellors, friends, etc.
Purpose without counsel is like knowing where you are going but you don't know the direction. Counsel charts a direction to your destiny.
Value advice, chastisement, discipline and corrections. They all form the wall of counsel that will secure your purpose till it manifest.
God bless you.
