[God's Wrath Quenched by David's Sacrifice]
David decided in 1Chronicles 21 that he wanted to know the population of Israelites. He sent Joab, one of his lieutenants, to conduct a census.
This was against the covenant of God with Abraham. All efforts to dissuade David against this act was aborted.
God's wrath was kindled against David and sadly against the entire land.
"So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel and they fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
"And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, He repented of the evil, and He said to the angel that destroyed, 'It is enough, stay now thine hand.' "
1Chronicles 21:14
Raise an Altar
God decided to halt the punishment He meted out on the people because of David's sins. He told the angel to suspend the destruction but not to retire.
David's eye was opened to see the angel. The angel who understood the protocol of the Spirit gave David a tip. The angel could not retire on his own, he needed to receive instructions from God.
How will this instruction come?
Someone had to send a request to God. So the angel advised David through the prophet, Gad, to raise an altar of sacrifice.
What's Your Altar?
Have you raised an altar of murmuring and cursing?
Already, you must have known by now that the physical responds to and is controlled by the supernatural.
The deaths in the land was mysterious. David knew it wasn't a mere pestilence, so he did as the angel advised.
He raised an altar at the threshing floor of Orman the Jebusite and made a sacrifice onto God. He made burnt and peace offerings, seeking reconciliation and pardon.
Good news! Jesus has replaced all that process. He has become that altar in your heart, through which you can reach the Father.
Orman sold the place of sacrifice to David for a fee. Salvation is not free. It cost the Father a fee —Jesus. We now benefit for free!
But God's intervention won't just happen. It will cost you something, an altar of prayer! You'll have to ask.
There is an Embassy of Heaven in your heart, which the Holy Ghost regulates. From there you communicate with Headquarters.
You have to activate the embassy, that temple, that altar in your heart, with your prayers. 🙏
The Sacrifice of Prayer
Imagine that David saw the killings (over 7,000 deaths) but refused to intercede. It would have been more tragic and God would still be God.
Similarly, if you refuse to activate your prayer altar by fervent prayers, then the web of evil in your family may grow wider (God forbid) and God will still be God.
He has the power to intervene but He will only interfere on invitation, He won't just intrude.
When David's sacrifice was accepted, God instructed the angel to return his sword in its shield. (see verse 27)
Truly, God sees the evil programme against everyone, but the system of the Kingdom is that someone has to stand in the gab and beckon on God's hand.
Be that someone for your family, your vision, your community and nation, like David. This is why prayer is very important. "Woe unto them that are at ease in Zion." Amos 6:1
If you know that your life and family depends on it, you won't sleep away your liberty. Arise and revive your altar today!
