Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, and my strength in whom I will trust; my buckler and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Consider the metaphors used to describe God: rock, fortress, deliverer, strength, buckler, and high tower.
I remember traveling with my dad to my hometown as a kid. Whenever we got to a police or army checkpoint, me and my siblings stood up in the car and waved at the police officers.
We tried to do this without daddy's detection, but he still saw it. 😃
On ground, if I saw a police officer, I was afraid. Back then, the older cousins or neighbours used to threaten us to obedience by saying they would call the police whenever we did something wrong. 🤔
But this time, we waved at the same police without fear, because dad was with us. 😎
The journey of life is full of checkpoints of troubles, trial and condemnation of men, and sickness and stress.
No matter your background, you will get to these checkpoints.
David gives us his story:
The sorrow of death compassed me, and the flood of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrow of hell compassed me about, the snare of death prevented. Psalm 18:5
When you get to these checkpoints, fear can drown you. This fear can be complications in your mind, a mirage of confusing thoughts posing to be of God, threatening to wreck your life.
It happens. It's not new. You need an intelligence to get over it. 👇
Consciousness
Whatever God offers is accessible by faith, since He is invisible, you have to believe in order to benefit.
My father's presence in the car generated a consciousness of a fortress, deliverer, strength, and high tower.
We knew we were safe with our dad in the car. 😃 I know you are grown up now, but fear is a proof that you are still a child in some situations, or before certain things.
(That's why Jesus showed up at the riverside after resurrection, and called grown up men 'Children, have ye any meat?') 🤪
You need the consciousness of the Almighty God with you. This consciousness will aid you through the valley of the shadows of death and you'll fear no evil because, God is with you.
Call and Counsel
When you call, He will hear. He said, 'Call upon me, and I will answer.' In the dark corridors of fear, never get tired of calling.
He will answer you. Also, accept help. Many times, in distress, especially emotional and spiritual, some people coil in and choose to suffer alone.
That's not ideal in most cases. A drowning man need a helping hand.
Words of encouragement is like a ladder lowered into a pit to bring out a suffocating man.
Don't fold in. Open up and climb it. Fear not, friend. Let the fear lead you to the place of prayer.
Welcome to 2023!
