Hello Family.
Today's topic on Gospel Daily is FORGIVENESS.
Matthew 6:14-15: "For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
As casual as the word forgiveness sounds, I don't know if forgiveness is an easy thing to do. Particularly if it came from someone you really trusted or never thought could do what they did.
I used to have a habit of mentally dissociating myself from someone who I feel has offended me.
My husband will say, "Babe do you know you're bearing a grudge?"
I'll say how I'm I bearing a grudge I'm just distancing myself from them but in my heart of hearts where I have put that person ehnnnn 🤣🤣.
I realized forgiveness is not for the offender but for the offended. The offender may not even know what he or she has done or maybe refuses to acknowledged what he has done.
I recently found out that heartbreak can physically affect the heart not just the emotions.
Depending on the level of hurt, it can affect a part of your heart and this can cause a physical breakdown.
So does unforgiveness. It makes you unhealthy and unhappy. Sometimes seeing that person gets you really triggered and angry but then again why should you give someone that much power over you?
My husband will always say, "this my heart is for loving God so there's no space to put anyone". I'll add "and for loving me o" 🤣.
Forgiveness may be very painful sometimes but it's needful for your physical and spiritual health.
Also I believe in expression, try to communicate with the offender and express your displeasure. This also helps you let out some hurt or maybe steam 🤣.
Forgiveness helps you move on.
Allow the Holy spirit help you. Sometimes forgiveness takes time but let it not take too much time so you don't loose weight 🤣.
Forgive for yourself not the offender.
Now I have a question.
SHOULD RELATIONSHIP BE RESTORED AFTER FORGIVENESS HAS TAKEN PLACE?
