James 1:26
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
TODAY,
I'm still building on yesterday's emphasis: anger and speech control.
So, this morning, another scripture came to mind on the subject.
The verse says, 👆🏽👆🏽 no matter your religiosity, if it does not bridle your tongue, it is VAIN.
There might be more to this verse, but the little I'm able to scratch is that if you lack speech control, then that habit is going to rob you of some fruits or benefits of your walk with God.
Les Brown said, 'when you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are.'
So, you might want to ask yourself, "What I'm about to say, is it going to introduce me properly?"
As a language and speech analyst, much of my assesment of people is the manner and substance of their speech.
Moreso, what better would you say if you had first spewed out garbage in anger and anxiety. 👺🤕
Yea.. sometimes, we easily let anger introduce us before our words. ❌❌
If you have that challenge; if you are yet to master anger,
it's
not
something
you
can
handle on your own..
You have to report yourself to God quickly.
Take a fast.
Lay at his feet, and ask him to dry up the pool of quick anger and hasty speech.
He will help you. He always does! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Truth is, if you speak too soon without processing, you must have lost so many opportunities (of friendships and enterprise).
James also said that your entire life moves in the direction of your tongue. (James 3:3)
So, bridle it. 😷😷
When you fast, you will not even have the energy to speak, let alone be hasty... 🤣🤣
That's how much fasting disciplines the flesh! It helps restore the efficacy of God's government over your tongue.
Apostle Arome calls it 'the oath of silence'.
You can shut your mouth when the words gathering up in your heart is not edifying.
Omor... When God redeems you into his secret place, you would then recognise and be merciful with those who lack speech control, because you'd been once there, and can tell that it's beyond their nature control.
You would then understand that if they knew, they would act differently..
Sha... I know many of us had gone past this stage, so maybe this is a reminder.
We keep keeping shut when the flesh seeks expression.
God bless you!! 😊😊
